Typography Self-Portrait


Typography Self-Portrait
Pencil on Paper

  1. Students took a photograph of their faces.
  2. Using Adobe Photoshop, they filtered the photo so that it shows a limited level of value (1 or 2).
  3. They transferred the black and white filtered photo (8"x 10") onto the larger size paper (18"x 24") using a grid system in pencil. 
  4. They filled the darker value with words about themselves in pencil.

  1. Students took photographs of them, showing how others perceive them outside.
  2. They cut put the photo and paste it on a larger paper (18"x 24").
  3. They drew graffiti on the background wall, using their life value quotes or their names.
  4. They insert a shadow that shows inner self, showing how they perceive themselves inside.

Animation in Photoshop


Students created a short animation clip on Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop.

  1. Students designed a character in Illustrator.
  2. They inserted the character onto a background.
  3. They created around 40 to 60 files in motion in Illustrator.
  4. They opened all files in Photoshop and placed them in order on the action palette.

All artworks are done by students from grade 10 to 11 in Foundation Class. 
  1. Students in groups set up their still-life setting. 
  2. They included personal objects as well as random objects to design an interactive composition. 
  3. Then, they incorporated text into the still-life to create a message.

  1. Students created a grid system in Adobe Photoshop. 
  2. They transformed the grid into a one-point perspective grid.
  3. They drew a pattern on a sheet of paper, scanned and uploaded the drawing.
  4. They scewed the drawing to be a wall paper in the grid system in Adobe Photoshop.
  5. They searched copy right free photos of furniture pieces, lassoed them and transformed them into the grid walls to design the room.

Anime Self-Portrait

Color pencils on paper

  1. Students identify characteristics of Japanese Anime characters. 
  2. They practice drawing eyes, and hair style.
  3. They draw their self-portrait.
  4. They add background of their choice to accentuate the figure.
  5. They practice shading color pencils in different values and tones.
  6. They apply the shading study onto their self-portraits in color pencils.

Doodle Animal




Doodle Animal

  1. Students practice drawing animals using a value scale.
  2. They choose a picture of an animal and draw in onto a drawing paper. (9"x 12")
  3. They render the value scale to achieve a sense of realistic drawing.
  4. They add doodles, inspired by Keith Haring, that matches with the animal.
